Rihanna, known for rejecting songs that other artists are happy to pick up (see: Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”), may be kicking herself after hearing Grimes interpretation of “Go” featuring Blood Diamonds, a song she wrote specifically for the famed Barbadian.
Opening with an ominous sound that builds into a more dubstep tinge (thanks to the presence of Blood Diamonds on the track), “Go” has an island-y sort of vibe that would have been tailor-made for Rihanna. However, being that Grimes is a musical genius and saw in “Go” the ultimate summer anthem (perhaps soon to join the list of other timeless tracks for the season), she performed it for the first time at the Governors Ball on June 6th and quickly thereafter released it as a single.

Although Grimes is still working on her next album (her last one, Visions, came out in 2012 and launched her into the forefront of the indie music scene), “Go” will have to tide us all over until the summer’s end.
