In a continuous confirmation that most people are more concerned with Solange Knowles’ personal life as opposed to her music, the younger sister of Beyoncé’s marriage to music video director Alan Ferguson (who has directed a mound of Fall Out Boy videos for some reason) has gotten more attention that any of her music has.
With the Jay-Z “elevator-gate” incident behind her, Knowles’ only recent headline-making since then has been her nuptials, which presents something of a Jessica/Ashlee Simpson dynamic in terms of Solange rarely being able to outshine her older sister. Not to say that that’s what Solange is about doing, but come on, you know she would like–just once–to be more recognized that Queen B.
The wedding, which took place at an opera house in New Orleans, was the sort of contrived modest ceremony any rich bohemian would have: many wardrobe changes, an all-weekend party surrounding the wedding and a screening of Mahogany on the first night (the movie Knowles and Ferguson on their first date, which means he could possibly be gay). But hey, if it makes headlines, that’s fine–because Solange deserves the spotlight for something.
