Allison Joy Langer a.k.a. A.J. Langer–better known as Rayanne Graff–is the cult figure whose role on My So-Called Life as the troubled, alcoholic-prone best friend to Angela Chase (Claire Danes) often eclipses the aforementioned main character and her alt rock man candy, Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto).
And yet, in the wake of the show, it seemed as though Langer was one of the least successful actors without the role that made her iconic–even Devon Gummersall bounced back quite easily with “nice guy” appearances on Felicity and Mad Men. But now, after all these years, Langer has been vindicated…by becoming royalty.
After staying true to her bad girl ways by meeting her husband, Charlie Courtenay, the son of the now deceased Earl of Devon, at The Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, Langer unwittingly ascended from the rank of “commoner” to “Lady.” Initially unaware of his station in life until months into their relationship–a story tantamount to something out of a live action Disney movie–Langer married her soon-to-be Earl in 2005 and graduated to Countess after Courtenay’s father died. Now that she’s met her prince charming, so to speak, she may just be more powerful than all her ex-My So-Called Life cast members combined.
